The Schoeneck Veterans Memorial Association will host its annual Memorial Day parade, ceremony and free luncheon at the Schoeneck Park and fire company grounds, 140 W. Queen St., Schoeneck, on Monday. The day begins with a parade featuring the Heidelberg Band, decorated bikes, cars, motorcycles and the new Schoeneck Veterans Memorial Association float. Parade registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the fire company parking lot. Step-off is at 9 a.m. Categories include: motorized vehicles and cycles, walkers, floats, trikes, bikes, wagons, organizations, individuals and families. Monetary prizes will be awarded in each category. Brief ceremony at the memorial (park entrance) will be followed by speakers, Diana Christ and Robert Getz. The program theme centers on “The Homefront Effort.” Following the program, a free-will offering luncheon will be served at the fire company pavilion. Those joining in are encouraged to bring lawn chairs for the parade and program. All veterans are welcome to join in the parade and at the ceremony.
